On October 9 1965 The America left New York on her

Greek
shipping company. She was renamed Australis, and sailed to Greece and was rebuilt.
The ship's capacity was increased from 1,046 to 2,258. The original class distinction was
changed to all tourist class. She was given air conditioning, and a large outdoor pool was
fitted on the aft deck. In here new life she sailed between Europe and Australia.
